I've found a freshwater turtle

Turtles are often found crossing the road or in weird spots. They may be looking for another waterway, or perhaps they have been washed away during the floods - so just help them cross the road safely, in the direction they were taking, or take them to the closest water body. If the shell is cracked or broken, please take the turtle to the nearest vet or call us on 0414 717 374 option 6. Often shell damage can be fixed but it is important to ensure that there is no internal damage.

If you find a turtle with a hook in their mouth - this is unfortunately too common in areas where fishers do not collect their rubbish! - please call us and we will help remove the hook. Never release a hooked turtle!

... and be careful when you grab a turtle, the first thing they do is usually pee on you!!
