Please scroll to the bottom of this page to see our upcoming training program

Education is one of our values and we love to educate ourselves and others!

We hold our Introduction to Wildlife Care and Introduction to Rescue and Handling courses for potential and new carers and rescuers several times each year - in Townsville and in other locations where possible. These courses provide a realistic introduction to wildlife care and rescue. They aim to raise public awareness of the native animals found around us, their needs, the dangers they face, and what is involved in becoming a wildlife carer or rescuer. We always need more help, so if you would like to join us, please check out our training schedule below.

We also offer species-specific training for new carers and existing carers who need a refresher, as well as advanced training for those who wish to further develop their skills and expertise. Topics include species identification, handling, feeding techniques, common ailments, treatments, accommodation and enclosure setup. Our courses will equip you with essential knowledge and hands-on skills and include the following:

  • Introduction to Flying Fox Care
  • Introduction to Macropod Care
  • Introduction to Microbat Care
  • Introduction to Native Bird Care
  • Introduction to Native Rodent and Bandicoot Care
  • Introduction to Possum Care

NB - most of these courses are offered several times a year.
